Digital Detox: Why Unplugging Might Be the Best Thing You Do This Week

Everyone does it. As soon as we get out of bed, we check our phones. While watching television, we aimlessly scroll. Even if we only checked Instagram five minutes ago, we still refresh it. We seem to be wired to be connected all the time. However, have you ever pondered the consequences of simply taking a break?

Despite the temptation, a digital detox does not include dropping your phone into the sea. It simply entails establishing limits with technology to prevent it from controlling you. Excessive screen use can disrupt sleep, increase anxiety, and even impair concentration, according to studies.
What can you do, then? Make little adjustments, such as turning off notifications, putting your phone away when eating, and designating an hour before bed when you won't use it. Instead of scrolling, try reading, keeping a notebook, or simply sitting and thinking (I know, it's crazy).

Taking a step back from screens might help you feel more present, productive, and even happier. Who knows? You may discover that the world beyond the screen is far more fascinating than what is displayed on it.
